We’re glad you’ve stopped by
the official website of Beth Israel Messianic Synagogue of
Odessa, Florida, near Tampa. Opening our doors in 1978
through the leadership of Rabbi Haim Levi, we were the first
Messianic Sephardic synagogue to be opened in the world.
We’re also the headquarters of the International Federation
of Messianic Jews.
Worship at Beth Israel
Our worship services, modeled after historic Temple
principles and the Davidic worship pattern, integrate our
Sephardic Jewish customs and traditions with faith in Yeshua
HaMashiach. Our services are held in English and Spanish,
including Hebrew for the liturgy. We welcome everyone who
sincerely desires to learn about the Lord. We’re especially
excited to meet more Latinos who know or suspect their
ancestors are of Jewish ancestry. So please visit us next
Shabbat or other upcoming mo’ed!
Who are
Sephardic Jews?
Very briefly, Sephardic Jews are the descendants of Jews who
were expelled from Spain and Portugal in the Spanish
Expulsion of 1492. The word Sephardim comes from the Hebrew
term for Spain, Sepharad, used in the Bible in Obadiah 1:20.
